Who can see and manage Inventory?

What someone can do in Inventory depends on their role.
#By role
Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
Owner and Admin | Everything, including switching on New Inventory, running the migration and archiving products. |
Standard | See stock, add and edit products, record any movement, and book stock. They can't switch Inventory on or run the migration. |
View/Scan/Comment | No access to Inventory by default. They can still book, check out and check in items, and booked stock comes back when the booking is checked in. |
Scan only | No access to Inventory. |
#Custom roles
Custom roles have an Inventory group of permissions in Settings › Roles:
View stock: the minimum needed to see Inventory, and to book stock
View stock movements: see a product's history
Manage products: create and edit products and variants, and add them to locations
Reserve and release stock
Receive stock
Issue stock
Transfer stock
Adjust stock
Manage item quantities: the old quantities on items only
A custom role can only have permissions that the role it's based on has, so a role based on View/Scan/Comment or Scan only can't be given access to stock.
